Etymology

tri(three) + million = million, million, million = 1,000,000 + ,000,000 + ,000,000 = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000.

  1. Usually it means a thousand billion. That is to say, a 1 followed by twelve zeros, 1012.
  2. (Dated usage, notably British) A million billion or a 1 followed by eighteen zeros, 1018.
